#MidTownCLEMembers: The City Mission
Did you know that MidTown Cleveland hosts more than 650 organizations and over 18,000 workers in our neighborhood? Our #MidTownCLEMembers campaign is an attempt to capture just some of the amazing work and innovative leaders from all across the Town. As we work together to create a connected community, we’ll be working to highlight different organizations across all spectrums of work in the hopes of sharing some of our amazing diverse assets.
For April 2019, we’re excited to spotlight The City Mission– a holistic ministry that exists to serve men, women and children at their point of crisis by assisting them in their progression toward self-sustainability.
1.How long has your organization been located in MidTown?
The City Mission has been in existence since 1910, and has been in MidTown over 25 years. The ground breaking was June 13, 1992, the relocation was completed in October 1994.
2. What are three words to describe your organization?
Committed. Collaborative. Transformative.
3. What is something new and/or exciting that we can look forward to from your organization within the next year?
We have many new and exciting updates to share from The City Mission. Not only are we constantly adapting our programming to better meet the needs of families and individuals who are hurting and homeless in 2019, but we’re also inviting the Greater Cleveland community into being a part of the solution. Perhaps the most timely event we’re looking forward to is the Stand In on June 29th. We’re bringing Cleveland together at Public Square to draw attention to the growing number of women and children in the Cleveland Metropolitan School District that experienced homelessness in the 2018-2019 school year. The Stand In is our opportunity to represent each one of these homeless children, and inspire the community to take action. We hope many of our MidTown neighbors will learn more and choose to join us from 4-7 pm on June 29th!
4. Where are your team members’ favorite spots in MidTown?
CHOMP Food Trucks, concerts at the Agora and Masonic Auditorium, Li Wah and Map of Thailand in Asiatown, and always Galluci’s for our Ride with a Mission committee meetings.
5. Complete this sentence “Our dream is for MidTown to….”
Our dream for MidTown is the same as our vision for The City Mission- to be a catalyst for positive change in Cleveland resulting in the radical transformation of individuals and communities for generations to come! We’re grateful to strive for this vision alongside the many MidTown neighbors who are making this neighborhood a place where all people feel empowered to work, live, play, and thrive.
