Neighborhood Vision 2025
Mitigate Impacts of Vacancy & Environmental Health Issues
Blighted, vacant properties pose safety hazards, erode the health of local housing markets, decrease surrounding property values, and reduce local tax revenue. Substandard housing conditions are a social justice issue and can be associated with a wide range of health conditions, including respiratory infections, asthma, lead poisoning, and negatively impact mental health. Actions in this area will undoubtedly rely on strong partnerships with local nonprofits, social services, and healthcare professionals to facilitate new housing improvement, mitigation, and assistance programs.
